Leadership begins long before someone gives you a title. It begins with the habits you build, the identity you choose, and the decisions you make every day. This engaging and interactive workshop is designed specifically for CUNY School of Professional Studies student leaders and emerging professionals who want to lead with purpose and confidence. Participants will explore how personal identity influences leadership, why lasting success is built through systems rather than motivation, and how small daily habits create extraordinary long-term results.
This workshop will introduce students to the principles of values-based leadership and the role personal values play in decision-making, communication, and collaboration. Attendees will identify their core values, reflect on how those values influence their leadership style, and explore strategies for leading authentically in academic, professional, and community settings. Participants will leave with practical tools for aligning their leadership approach with their personal and professional goals.
Change is a constant part of the student leadership experience. Whether navigating new initiatives, responding to unexpected challenges, or supporting peers through transitions, effective leaders know how to adapt with confidence. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore practical change management strategies, strengthen their resilience, and develop skills to lead others through uncertainty with empathy, clear communication, and purpose. Attendees will leave with tools they can immediately apply to create positive change within their teams, organizations, and campus communities.
This workshop is in-person only.
Leadership is developed through intentional growth, not simply earned through a title or position. This interactive in-person session invites students to build on the concepts explored throughout the retreat by reflecting on their values, leadership identity, and personal growth. Through collaborative learning, guided reflection, and experiential activities, participants will strengthen their self-awareness, connect with fellow student leaders, and explore how intentional choices shape their ability to lead with authenticity and purpose.
