Please note: Registering for the Lavender Graduation Celebration Ceremony does not register you for the CUNY SPS Commencement ceremony, and vice versa.

Theme: We Exist. We Persist. Queer and Thriving.

The 2nd Annual Lavender Graduation Celebration honors our queer and trans graduates who continue to show up—with courage, authenticity, and resilience. In a moment when LGBTQIA+ communities face increasing challenges, this celebration places hope at the center: hope as a force that sustains us, empowers us, and carries us forward. This year’s theme recognizes that existing as LGBTQIA+—and thriving—is an act of resistance and a testament to the power of community. We gather to celebrate students who are boldly stepping into their next chapter with pride, purpose, and unwavering possibility. Their leadership, joy, and brilliance remind us that queer thriving is not only possible—it is happening right here, in our SPS community. Together, we uplift the journeys of graduates who continue to build futures filled with intention, connection, and hope. Because we exist. We persist. And we are unapologetically queer and thriving.

All who wish to participate and are affiliated with CUNY SPS are welcome—regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or citizenship status. This event is intended to foster a sense of belonging and pride in the diverse identities that make up our CUNY SPS community.
